Directions

Daylesford is in the Macedon Ranges Region is a very beautiful highly sought after tourist destination.

There are many things to do in Daylesford, including markets. farmgate visits, a fine array of galleries, wineries and shopping PLUS many award winning restaurants, cafes and eateries.

We are known for the health giving effervescent mineral water that you can pump out of the ground.

It is also a popular romantic getaway option with Melburians seeking a Spa Country Getaway.

Daylesford is 90 minutes from the city but has limited public transport options.

Driving Options

Option 1 - Take the Calder Highway out of Melbourne and follow the signs to Bendigo BUT turn left at Woodend (there are two exits so if you miss the first turn off you get a second chance) Woodend is approx 60 minutes from Melbourne. It is approx 40 minutes drive from Woodend to Daylesford and is well signposted.

Option 2 - Come up over the Westgate Bridge - take the Western Highway and turn left at the Ballan TurnOff. Pay attention when you see the McDonalds and BP Servo at the top of the hill (approx 60 minutes from the Westgate Bridge) the Daylesford turnoff is minutes past Maccas - IF YOU MISS THE TURNOFF it will add 40 minutes to your journey so pay attention! Ballan to Daylesford is 30 minutes drive and is well signposted.

Train and Bus Options

The train journey from the city takes 60 minutes and leaves from Southern Cross Station. The airport bus will drop you at the end of the platforms at Southern Cross so its just a very short undercover walk to get the train.

I can come and collect you from the Ballan train station which is 30 minutes from Daylesford.

There is a bus but it runs once or twice a day and isn't all that reliable

The airport Skybus is $26 single round trip Tullamarine Airport to Southern Cross Station

The Vline Train from Southern Cross Station to Ballan will cost about $10 each way off peak and $15 each way during peak times - concession is much less - visit the VLine website to find exact costs and timetables.

The VLine train is clean, light, safe, and easy. Once you've cleared the suburbs of Melbourne its a very pretty ride through rural countryside.

Vline tickets also give you full access to Melbourne Trams and Trains to Zone 1 on the day of travel

Once I know who is coming we may be able to arrange ride sharing etc but I need to know who is coming when and where to make this happen.

Best you speak with me first and we will co-ordinate your travel plans - you will be best to leave Monday.

We may be able to arrange ride shares if you contact me I can see if this is possible.

Getting to Tasma - At the Daylesford Post Office roundabout turn into the street between the post office on one corner and Frangos & Frangos on the opposite corner (which is Central Springs Road) head straight until the road veers right toward Ballarat EXCEPT you veer left into Table Hill Road - Tasma is at the end of Table Hill Road.  If you get to the Mobil Station (Dave Collins Motors) which is on the Main Road to Ballarat - you have gone to far - turn back and have another go!  Table Hill Road is opposite the Main Entrance to the Mill Markets (two big tin sheds of tat!) you can't miss it!From the Post Office to Tasma is no more than 5 minutes drive time - if you are searching longer - you are lost :-) so ask a local!

For more information contact:
Daylesford Regional Visitor Information Centre on 5321 6123
98 Vincent St, Daylesford 3460
Its right beside the Post Office if you get lost
